Meet 5yr old Teddy a neutered male.
Teddy came back into SHWA care in October 2023, through absolutely no fault of his own. Having spent an extensive time in foster, SHWA and his foster, feel he is now ready for a very special, understanding and experienced forever home.
Teddy is in foster in Hampshire and any potential owners must be prepared to travel and meet Teddy and his foster on a few occasions.
Described as a loveable, goofy dufus, Teddy is in foster in a multi dog household, and will need a similar sized dog companion, regular walks and secure offlead runs.
When Teddy arrived in his current foster home he presented as a worried anxious boy. He pushed boundaries with people, we believe as a way of trying to be in control to make him feel safe. Teddy needed, a firm but very calm and gentle approach with lots of reassurance and positive reward.
Teddy would guard random items and needed to trust and realise he would not be punished for doing so, learning over a period of time a higher value treat was the better option.
Teddy has made huge and significant progress in this area and this is why he needs an experienced patient home so that all the work put in by his foster can carry on and Teddy continues to thrive.
Teddy loves people, other dogs, and his walks with his pack. He’s less keen on the vets but who can blame him 😉
Teddy is house trained and will let you know when he needs to go out. He does have a high prey drive so no small furries.
Teddy can be left for around 4hrs, giving a little but short lived sing song when you leave.
